Avalanche forecasting is a rare synthesis of disciplines. It demands the rigor of engineering and physics to assess snowpack structure, the analytical depth of meteorology to interpret weather's influence on terrain, and an almost artistic intuition to read subtle, often ambiguous cues in data-sparse mountain environments. But the work doesn't end with assessment. A forecast must communicate risk with the persuasive clarity of great marketing, translating complex science into actionable, life-saving guidance for the public.
